Introduction to the league

The London Basketball Association is thrilled to announce the return of the LBA Men’s College Basketball League, and the first season of LBA Women’s College League! After a great wrap up to the 2018/19 season, ending at the Olympic venue for an all-day, 3 court tournament with teams from across the nation. Now we’re back providing a high-quality program looking to make a serious impact! Registration for both men and women’s leagues is now opened for the 2019/2020 season, this includes an early bird offer. There are many unique advantages to signing up, from implementation of a digital scoresheet, giving live stats to the world. LBA provide 2 referees and the cost of them is included in the entry fee, plus we have a budget for table officials. Discounted entry into the end of season tournament at the CopperBox arena. ADVANTAGES OF JOINING

  1. All other college leagues are restricted to U19’s. This league is not.
  2. Most leagues have to play games on a Wednesday. This league say play games on any day.
  3. A goal to schedule all games before the season starts has been set. However if issues do arise just communicate this at earliest convenience
  4. Entry fee covers 2 qualified referees for all your games which LBA arrange
  5. Table officials are also compensated and we work with the host team to provide this
    • LBA has a collaboration with AllOfficials, allowing the above 2 points viable
  6. LBA want to collaborate with each school, qualifying more basketball professionals into the sport throughout the season (coaches, referees and table officials).
    • LBA will offer nationally recognised qualification courses throughout the year for ‘table official’ (2hrs) & for ‘referee’ (4hrs). This is to help support home games throughout the season. (An LBA representative will be in touch regarding more opportunities on this.)

Sign-Up Info

  • MEN’S COLLEGE LEAGUE
    1. Please sign your team up online HERE before July 15th
    2. Registration fee is £450, sign up before June 15th to qualify for Early Bird Cost of £400
    3. Registration includes the cost of officials for every game (*schools to provide the table and LBA to pay them)
    4. After sign up, we will send you the link for a MANDATORY player registration form, which is due for all players before your first game.
    5. Players must complete a “Journey of Change” form at the start and before the end of the season
    6. By entering the league you agree to our rules and conditions
  • WOMEN’S COLLEGE LEAGUE
    1. Please sign your team up online HERE before September 21st, 2019
    2. Registration fee is £300, sign up before August 1st to qualify for Early Bird Cost of £225
    3. Registration includes the cost of officials for every game (*schools to provide the table and LBA to pay them)
    4. After sign up, we will send you the link for a MANDATORY player registration form, which is due for all players before your first game.
    5. Players must complete a “Journey of Change” form at the start and before the end of the season
    6. By entering the league you agree to our rules and conditions

Male 5v5 League Details

General Info:

  • The season will run from early October to end of March. You can view season schedule & table standings via the LBA website. 
  • Depending on how many teams sign up, there will ideally be 2 pools, made up of an A & B division
  • Teams hosting games at their own courts will be required to provide table officials who will be compensated by the LBA
  • Each team will have the opportunity to use the same Krossover highlights and analytics system used by the Cleveland Cavilers and England Basketball. Here’s a link to an article with more details.

Season Format:

  • Stage 1 is ‘Round Robin’ within your pool. Where you play everyone in your pool once. This has to be completed by February half-term
  • Stage 2 is ‘Seeded Playoff’s’ Where the top 2 teams from each pool will advance to the semi-final and then the finals. This is to be completed by Easter Break
    • Confirm entry to the end of season tournament at the Copperbox arena

Additional Rounds:

  • ‘End of Season Tournament’ at the Olympic Venue in the Copperbox Arena. Date TBC. LBA provides discounted entry to all teams in the league, however, this tournament is also open to teams throughout the rest of Europe.

Female 3v3 League Details

General Info:

  1. The season will run from early October to end of Easter break. You can view season schedule & table standings via the LBA website
  2. Teams hosting games at their own courts will be required to provide 2 table officials who will be compensated by the LBA
  3. LBA to provide Referees
  4. Digital Scores sheets will be used, meaning stats will be online in real-time
  5. Officials will be managed by the AllOfficials app which empowers you & makes officiating viable
  6. Profile guest appearances at “Road-Shows” throughout the season

Season Format:

  • Stage 1 is ‘ROAD-SHOW Round Robin’, where you play everyone in your pool twice. This has to be completed by February half-term.
    • Each team to have the opportunity to host a 2-hour ROAD-SHOW throughout the season
    • The first hour will include a “unity warm-up, then skills/drills section, plus a talk on the rules
    • The second hour will undergo teams playing multiple games
  • Stage 2 is a one-off, road-show, seeded playoff’s, where all teams are in attendance. This is to be completed by Easter Break

Additional Notes:

  • Courses throughout the season to get qualified as a referee, table official and coach for students and school reps. Dates to be confirmed
  • We need names of players and shirt number before the season starts, people can be added later, with a minimum of 2 weeks notice
  • A set schedule will be sent out in September, please note you if you can’t make a date,we will have to move the whole road-show to a date everyone can make. There are 4 teams at a road-show
  • Fiba rules apart from the following:
    • Game time is 14munites running minutes
    • Up to 6 players per team
