Introduction to the league

The London Basketball Association is thrilled to announce the return of the LBA Men’s College Basketball League, and the first seasons of LBA Womens College League! After a great wrap up to the 2018/19 season, ending at the Olympic venue for an all day, 3 court tournament. Now we’re back providing a high-quality program looking to make a serious impact! Registration for both men and womens leagues is now opened for the 2019/2020 season, this includes an ealry bird offer. There are many unique advantages to signing up, from Access to the “Krossover” tool which NBA teams use for highlights and stats, LBA provide 2 referees and the cost of them is included in the entry fee, discounted entry into the end of season tournament at the CopperBox arena. ADVANTAGES OF JOINING

  1. All other college leagues are restricted to U19’s. This league is not.
  2. Most leagues have to play games on a Wednesday. This league say play games on any day.  Once registration has been completed, the LBA will aim to complete a full schedule for all teams, should any scheduling issues arise you should communicate amongst yourselves and send confirmation through to the league.   3. Entry fee covers 2 qualified referees for all your games, which will be facilitated by the LBA. 
    • Next season the LBA will be partnering with AllOfficials, through this app schools will be able to contact referees before games and review performances once games are finished
  4. LBA want to collaborate with each school, qualifying more basketball professionals into the sport throughout the season (coaches, referees and table officials).
    • LBA will run nationally recognised qualification courses throughout the year for ‘table official’ (2hrs) & for ‘referee'(4hrs) and give every school 2 FREE places*. This is to help support home games throughout the season. (An LBA representative will be in touch regarding more opportunities on this.)
    • The LBA will also compensate table officials during each schools home games
  5. Early bird offer, to encourage early registration we offer £50 off 
  6. LBA has an annual membership for individuals, which includes many benefits & all players in the league entitled to it this season (worth £100+ per person)
  7. LBA has an annual membership for organisations, which includes many benefits & all organisation in the league entitled to it this season (worth £200+)
  8. We give access to the “Krossover” tool, which the NBA uses to generate stats and highlights!
  9. Leagues standings and fixtures can all be found on our website so you can keep track and stay updated throughout the season.

Sign-Up Info

  • MEN’S COLLEGE LEAGUE
    • Please sign your team up online HERE before July 15th
    • Registration fee is £450, sign up before June 15th to qualify for Early Bird Cost of £400
    • Registration includes the cost of referees for every game, as well as two spots in the Table Officials qualification course we offer.
    • After sign up, we will send you the link for a MANDATORY player registration form, which is due for all players before your first game.
    • Players must complete a “Journey of Change” form at the start and before the end of the season

  • WOMEN’S COLLEGE LEAGUE
    • Please express your interest in potential 5 on 5 or 3 on 3 league online HERE before June 15th
    • Registration includes the cost of referees for every game, as well as two spots in the Table Officials qualification course we offer.
    • After sign up, we will send you the link for a MANDATORY player registration form, which is due for all players before your first game.
    • Players must complete a “Journey of Change” form at the start and before the end of the season
    • By entering the league you agree to our rules and conditions

College League Details

General Info:

  • Season will run from early October to end of March. You can view season schedule & table standings via the LBA website. 
  • Depending on how many teams sign up, there will ideally be 2 pools, made up of an A & B division
  • Teams hosting games at their own courts will be required to provide table officials who will be compensated by the LBA
  • Each team will have the opportunity to use the same Krossover highlights and analytics system used by the Cleveland Cavilers and England Basketball. Here’s a link to an article with more details.

Season Format:

  • Stage 1 is ‘Round Robin’ within your pool. Where you play everyone in your pool once. This has to be completed by February half-term
  • Stage 2 is ‘Seeded Playoff’s’ Where the top 2 teams from each pool will advance to the semi-final and then the finals. This is to be completed by Easter Break
    • Confirm entry to the end of season tournament at the Copperbox arena

Additional Rounds:

  • ‘End of Season Tournament’ at the Olympic Venue in the Copperbox arena. Date TBC. LBA provides discounted entry to all teams in the league, however this tournament is also open to teams throughout the rest of Europe.
