Are you a young person thinking about joining Duke of Edinburgh? An opportunity to discover new interests and talents and develop key skills for life and work. The DofE is many things to people, supporting younger people to successfully navigate adult life.


Volunteering can make a big difference in your life and those around you. Volunteering is challenging, exciting, educational and a rewarding experience.

Off the Court provides all the details with the relevant volunteering roles and positions
  1. a virtual, in office, field, or hybrid working arrangement.
  2. access to relevant duty of care courses.
Access to Duty of Care Courses and Basketball Certifications

This will include courses such as:
  1. Level 1 Referee
  2. Level 1 Table Official
  3. Basketball Digital Scoresheet
  4. Basketball Rules Refresher
  5. Level 1 Media Crew Member at a Sporting Event
  6. First Aid
  7. Safeguarding Children and Young Adults
  8. Online Safety
  9. GDPR

  • Gives you skills, confidence and an edge over others when applying for college, university or a job. 
  • Able to make a difference to other people’s lives and your community.
  • Make new friends and have memories to last you a lifetime.
  • Doing DofE gives you character traits like confidence, resilience, that will boost mental health and wellbeing; help them face and overcome personal challenges.


Awards are categorised into the following:
  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
For the duration of each programme, please refer to the Timescales page of the Duke of Edinburgh website.
For Bronze and Silver Award you will receive your certificate and badge locally – ask your leader where it will be.
For Gold, you must complete the Gold Award Form on eDofE. This will be sent for approval automatically. Once it has been approved, your Licensed Organisation will give you the choice of a badge or brooch. The Head Office will invite you to the Gold Award Presentation to receive our certificate in the presence of HRH The Earl of Wessex (Prince Edward) at a Royal palace.

Discount Eligibility

The LBA has received funding so we can give this opportunity for a discounted price or free for the people who has any of the following criteria:
  • Females
  • Based in London (certain London Boroughs get a discount so please let us know which borough you are from!)
  • Disabled
  • NEET’s (Under 25’s not in education or employment)
