Introduction to the College League

The London Basketball Association is thrilled to announce the return of the LBA Men’s College League, and are looking to start the first ever Women’s College League! After the unfortunate events of the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in an early end to the 2019-20 season we are looking to make the 2020-21 season’s league bigger and better than ever before.

There are many unique advantages to signing up, from implementation of a digital scoresheet, giving live stats to the world. LBA provide 2 referees and the cost of them is included in the entry fee, plus we have a budget for table officials. Discounted entry into the end of season tournament. Be sure to check out the full advantages of joining the league below. As always we can assure you that our games will be exceptionally organised (two referees and one table official is mandatory) and highly competitive, so sign your team up now and get to experience the best college basketball league in all of London!

Advantages of joining

  1. All other college leagues are restricted to under 19’s. Our league is not.
  2. Most leagues have to play games on a Wednesday. Our league is flexible and can play games on any day of the week.
  3. We have a goal of scheduling all the games before the season starts. If issues with the fixtures do arise communicate this at earliest convenience.
  4. The entry fee covers two (2) qualified referees for all of your games which LBA will arrange.
  5. Table officials are also compensated and we work with the host team to provide this.
    • LBA has a collaboration with AllOfficials, allowing the above two points viable.
  6. LBA wants to collaborate with each school, qualifying more basketball professionals into the sport throughout the season (coaches, referees and table officials).
    • With this said, LBA will offer nationally recognised qualification courses throughout the year for table officials (2hrs) and for referees (4hrs), and give every school 10 FREE places*. This is to help support home games throughout the season.
    • An LBA representative will be in touch regarding more opportunities on qualifying your students and school representatives.
  7. LBA has an annual membership for individuals and organisations, which includes many benefits & all players in the league entitled to it this season (worth up to £350+ per person).
  8. Leagues standings and fixtures can all be found on our website so you can keep track and stay updated throughout the season.
  9. We would like to offer 3 students to be a part of our media crew. They will have the opportunity to learn from our marketing expert how to create quality marketing content including taking pictures and videos of basketball games, editing them and sharing on LBA’s social media platforms, as well as develop a deeper understanding of the key principles of digital marketing.
