2021 Boroughs’ Mid-Season Tournament Finals

Introduction to Annual Event

Watch out for this space in December! The London Basketball Association is happy to announce that we will be hosting the 7th Mid-Season Tournament FINALS for both girls and boys in secondary schools, now across 3 Boroughs! Those being Westminster, Lambeth and Wandsworth.
Things have taken a few twists and turns due to COVID-19, particularly with Omicron which has led to some teams not being able to attend the Finals Tournaments. However this won’t stop the Boroughs’ Mid-Season Finals Tournament, as we still have 24 teams in total across the 3 boroughs entering this competition! Half of them are males and the other half are females which is a fantastic representation of basketball in London and how the sport is becoming so popular.
We are able to make this event real special for everyone that will be joining us as we will be supplying every participant with trophies and Michael Jordan brand merchandise. This includes not only participants, but coaches, referees and officials!
The event will be packed with banging music, a professional environment with banners and the LBA will be bringing a special guest from London’s only professional BBL club, the London Lions! We will have a picture booth section to get exclusive photos with the athlete who will be joining us.
We will also be using some of the best and iconic basketball facilities that London has to offer including Moberly Sports Centre and the Nike Regal Court @ Black Prince Trust!
The LBA staff have been sensational as they work with all the twists and turns from COVID-19 to make this event possible. Giving the community an exceptional experience as always, we would like to thank Tony, Sarah, Robert, volunteers and interns for doing their best to make this event happen.
As usual, the LBA will organise qualified referees and table officials, whilst non-participating players will be supporting the events as Table Officials and media crew members, many of whom have got qualified from different schools and it will be great to see them in action.
We met with students that took part in this event five years ago who are now off to University across the country and world, and they have never forgotten this event and are really grateful to be an LBA Alumni.
The winners of each borough will progress into the ‘Battle of the Boroughs’ London Youth Games (LYG) School Games Competition!
Once the day is over, make sure you check out the LBA Facebook page, Instagram and our website to view all of the day’s action. From the great success we’ve already had in our competitions, you can rest assured that students participating will have the experience of a lifetime.
