Introduction to the LBA Primary School Competitions

The London Basketball Association is thrilled to announce the start of the inauguration season of the “LBA Primary School Basketball Competitions”. London only primary school league all schools can enter and grasp this experience. This platform will allow many young people from schools years 5&6, to take part in the game of basketball, learning skills, build character and to be inspired by the sport, so they can play for a lifetime!

As usual, the LBA will organize referees, coaches and be the hub to stay in the know. Teams will have a chance host, to travel to their opponents or both teams travel to a neutral venue to compete in a fun safe environment. The LBA will also be taking photographs, all of which can be found on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages, as well as the LBA website. It’s a great opportunity for everyone, as both boys and girls get to be active in the sport and develop a passion for the game. We have a great event template with professional coaches who are all DBS checked & positive role model for the young people.

Benefits of Joining!

  1. The only primary school league in London available to every primary school!
  2. Play games on any day.  Once you know the teams you’re to play, you communicate amongst yourselves and send the confirmation details through to the league. (Competitions@thelba.co.uk). The league do all the rest! (organise your basketball professional to run the event)
  3. Entry fee covers the cost of the 1 qualified basketball personnel (coach/referees) for all your games. LBA organise them too
  4. LBA want to collaborate with each school, qualifying more basketball professionals into the sport throughout the season (coaches, referees and table officials).
    • With this said, LBA will run nationally recognised qualification courses throughout the year and can give 1 free sport in each of the following courses: Table official (2hrs course), Referee'(4hrs course) and Coaching.

  6. LBA has an annual membership for organisations, which includes many benefits & all organisation in the league entitled to it this season (worth £200+)

  2. PLAYER CONSENT FORM. The school is responsible for the completion of this form. Please make a copy and send back the finished version to competitions@thelba.co.uk. The form can be viewed here.
    • The player consent form must be handed in no less than two weeks before your first event
  3. By entering the tournament you agree to our rules and conditions

Season & Competition Details

Season Format:

  1. Round one: League games. We recommend playing at least one game between per term
  2. Round two: End of season tournament. Most boroughs have an end of season tournament around March to May, where the winners advance to represent their borough in the mini-school games. LBA organise some of these. I LBA do then school entered in this league get priority in this tournament.
  3. Entry fee covers the cost of three events throughout the season, which are super inspiring and consist of the following:
    1. Group warm-up 15min
    2.  Skill Challenges (in your teams) 45min
    3. Main event, which is 3v3 games 20min
    4. Wrap up 10min
  4. At each event, there will be at least 1 basketball professional to run the event
  5. Entry fee also includes priority into the end of season tournament, if LBA is organising this. (currently do Westminster, Hammersmith & Fulham, Islington)

 

Season Format:

    4. Wrap up 10min
